CatholiceCare Victoria manager homelessness and housing support James Treloar said Reid's closure would have a "devastating impact" on homelessness locally. Dozens of people in homelessness accommodation in Ballarat will have to find somewhere else to live after Uniting announced it would close a facility that's housed thousands of people for more than 20 years.

Our goal is to provide safe and supportive housing for women and children experiencing homelessness and trauma. Alexandria House offers a continuum of support as people move from crisis situations to financial and emotional stability, and ultimately to permanent housing. We also serve our broader community by providing wellness, educational and enrichment opportunities and resources to meet the basic needs for our neighbors. We are intentionally multicultural and anti-racist and are committed to addressing the systemic injustices that keep women and families disenfranchised and living in poverty. Of those, 123,423 people (68%) were “unsheltered”, meaning living outside in tents, cars or other makeshift shelters, as opposed to indoor shelters or temporary set-ups.
